Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what personal data backed.love ("we", "us") collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We're based in the Netherlands, and we handle your data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, AVG). Short version: we collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and payment details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us.
1. Who is responsible for your data
backed.love is the data controller for the data described below. You can reach us at hello@backed.love.
2. What we collect
If you join the waitlist
- Your email address — so we can let you know when your scene opens.
If you create an artist profile
- Account details: your name, email address, and a password (stored hashed).
- Profile content you publish: your artist name, bio, photo, and the links you add (socials, music, videos).
- Your props: the up-to-three artists you recommend, and the props you receive from others. This is public by design — it's the product.
- Optional collaboration contact link, if you choose to publish one (e.g. an email address you control).
If you tip an artist
- We do not store your card or bank details. Payments are processed by Stripe; see Stripe's ownprivacy policyfor how they handle payment data.
- We keep a minimal record of the transaction (amount, date, which artist received it) so artists can see their tips and the platform can reconcile payouts.
Technical data
- Basic server logs and aggregate usage data (which pages are visited, whether fans arrive via a link or by scanning a QR code) so we can understand what works. We don't run advertising trackers.
3. Why we use it (legal bases)
- Consent — your email address on the waitlist, and any content you choose to publish on your profile.
- Contract — account and transaction data needed to run your profile, process tips, and pay out artists.
- Legitimate interest — aggregate, non-identifying usage data to improve the platform and prevent fraud and abuse.
4. Who we share it with
- Stripe — payment processing and artist payouts. Stripe is an independent controller for the payment data it processes.
- Hosting and email providers — to run the site and, if you've opted in, to contact you. All providers are bound by processing agreements.
- Legal obligations — where we're required to disclose data by law (e.g. to authorities in the context of fraud).
Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area (for example by Stripe), this happens under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
We never sell your personal data.
5. How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until you ask us to remove them, or until the platform no longer needs them.
- Account and profile data: for as long as your account is active. Delete your account and we remove your personal data, except where we're legally required to keep records (e.g. transaction records for tax purposes).
- Server logs: kept for a short period, then deleted.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you can request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion of your data, restriction or objection to processing, and data portability. If you've given consent (for example for the waitlist), you can withdraw it at any time.
Emailhello@backed.love and we'll act on your request within a month. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
7. Cookies
We use functional cookies only (e.g. to keep you signed in). We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. If that changes, we'll ask for your consent first.
8. Security
We apply standard technical and organisational measures — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access limited to the people who need it. No system is perfect, so if something ever goes wrong, we'll tell you.
9. Changes to this policy
As the platform grows (tipping, payouts, QR features), this policy may change. We'll publish updates on this page with a new date, and for significant changes we'll notify registered artists directly.
